Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: April 2026
The Spirit
Off Duty Nation is built for adults who serve or have served. We treat verified members like grown-ups: minimal hand-holding, straight talk, and zero tolerance for behavior that puts the community at risk. This policy spells out the lines that cannot be crossed.
Hard No's
- Stolen valor. Falsifying military or first-responder service. Permanent ban, possible referral to authorities.
- Forged verification. Submitting altered or fabricated DD-214s or department credentials.
- Personal commercial solicitation. Using the feed, events, or messages to pitch your business, recruit downline, or sell to members. Use the venue/sponsor channels instead.
- Charging for "Need a Hand" help. Community help is free. Asking for payment for help offered through ODN is a permanent ban.
- Harassment, slurs, threats, or doxxing. Including conduct that happens off-platform but is connected to ODN.
- Sexual harassment or unwanted advances. Zero tolerance.
- Sharing CSAM, terror content, or other illegal material. Reported and banned immediately.
- Bot or scraping abuse. Automated mass account creation, content scraping, or rate-limit evasion.
- Bypassing safety features. Circumventing blocks, reports, or admin actions with new accounts.
Events & Hosts
Hosts are responsible for the events they create. Be honest about location, cost, skill level, and risk. Cancel cleanly if you cannot run the event. Treat attendees with respect — including pickup tone, drink policy, and parking. Repeated complaints about a host's behavior or no-shows can result in losing host privileges.
Verification Documents
Cover or redact your Social Security Number (item 3 on a DD-214) before uploading. We do not extract, store, or process SSNs and we will reject uploads where one is clearly visible. Use the latest version of your discharge document — if your characterization was upgraded, upload the upgrade letter so we can record the correct status.
How We Enforce
Reports are reviewed by humans, not algorithms. We can warn, soft-delete content, suspend, or permanently ban depending on severity and history. We do not telegraph the specific algorithms used to detect abuse, and we reserve the right to act without prior notice when the safety of the community is at stake.
Reporting
Every event, profile, comment, and listing has a Report option. Reports are confidential. The reporting member's identity is never disclosed to the reported party. For urgent safety issues, email trust@offdutynation.com.
